Description
This course is offered in 2 versions:
- Certificate in Music Foundation;
- Certificate in Music Foundation (Mandarin)
The Certificate in Music Foundation is an intensive program designed to provide aspiring musicians with a comprehensive foundation in music and performing arts. The program, aligned with FHEQ 3, combines technical training with essential theoretical knowledge, enabling students to develop musicianship, artistry, and stage presence.
Students will engage in a range of activities including music theory, harmonic and rhythmic ear training, and specialized training in their chosen instrument or voice (Principal Study). The learning experience includes a blend of lectures, workshops, and industry seminars that introduce students to the professional music landscape.
Assessment is tailored to the module contents and learning objectives, predominantly through coursework—performances, creative critiques, aural skills assessments, and collaborative projects. The program equips students with the technical and critical skills necessary for further studies or professional pursuits in music.

The Certificate in Dance Foundation is a dynamic program designed to launch your journey in the world of dance and performing arts. Aligned with FHEQ Level 3, this course provides a comprehensive foundation for aspiring dancers, blending rigorous technical training with essential theoretical knowledge.
The curriculum is carefully structured to foster not only dance skills but also critical thinking, effective communication, and global awareness – essential qualities for the modern performing artist. Through a combination of practical workshops, lectures, and collaborative projects, you’ll develop a well-rounded skill set that prepares you for further study at the diploma level and beyond. Assessment is based primarily on assignments, project work, classroom participation and engagement, presentations, practical activities, and other continuous assessment methods.
By the end of the program, you’ll have a solid foundation in dance technique, a growing choreographic portfolio, and the confidence to pursue your passion in the performing arts.
