Description
This dynamic 6.25 -months Certificate in Contemporary Art Foundation program offers a transformative, studio-based learning experience designed to unlock your creative potential and prepare you for a future in the visual arts. The program is aligned with FHEQ 3, through a combination of hands-on practice and critical theory, students will explore traditional and contemporary art forms, mastering essential techniques in painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, and digital media.
The program fosters both technical expertise and critical thinking, helping students develop their unique artistic voice and vision. Learning takes place in a stimulating environment through a blend of lectures, professional practice modules, workshops led by practicing artists, cultural visits to galleries and museums, and self-directed study.
Assessment is aligned with each module’s content and learning objectives, predominantly through coursework—essays, creative portfolios, case studies, group projects, and critical reflections. Students will gain a global perspective on art, participate in collaborative projects, and cultivate professional skills needed to thrive in the visual arts industry.
By the end of the program, students will have built a compelling portfolio that showcases their creative development, paving the way for further study or careers in the visual arts sector.

Minimum Entry Requirements
- Minimum age: 16 years old
- Completion of the ‘N’ Level exam with at least 55% in four subjects
- The student will need to submit a statement of purpose and pass an interview.
- Other qualifications which will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Statement Of Purpose (500–800 WORDS)
The student will need to describe his/her interest, involvement and experience in the business or commerce related disciplines. Experience can include work done with arts organisations or events such as retail, administrative office, film, design, performance, festivals, exhibitions. These can also be events you attended or student projects that you worked on. Statement of purpose to be submitted online.
Interview
The student will need to participate in a written test and dialogue in relation to the submitted statement of purpose – What are your motivations for choosing this course? Share your interest, influence and aspiration. What do you hope to achieve in this programme? You should also share how this programme might prepare you for your future career path. If the student is unable to attend the interview on campus, an online interview will be arranged.
